ROLE TITLE: International Development Team Lead
DEPARTMENT: International Development
LEVEL: Volunteer
ROLE PURPOSE: To co-design, direct, and ensure delivery of tasks, while representing the team internally and externally.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
· Co-set the Vision: Lead in communicating a clear, inspiring roadmap for the International Development Department. Establish priorities that align with PSJ UK’s goals, anticipate global trends, and position the team to respond effectively to emerging opportunities.
· Build Global Partnerships: Proactively lead the team to connect with international NGOs, advocacy networks, and agencies. Negotiate win–win collaborations, maintain strong relationships, and ensure partnerships deliver meaningful impact.
· Lead Programmed Design: Oversee the planning and delivery of evidence-based, culturally aware projects with measurable outcomes. Ensure initiatives follow best practices of PSJUK and are supported by strong timelines, frameworks, and evaluation tools.
· Drive Fundraising Success: Partner with the fundraising team to secure grants, sponsorships, and in-kind support for global projects. Ensure budgets are realistic, transparent, and aligned with mission objectives.
· Lead & Support the Team: Assign tasks, coordinate group activities, and keep volunteers engaged, motivated and connected. Offer mentorship, encourage innovation, and foster a sense of shared ownership in achieving the team's goals.
QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE
· Experience / Strong Interest in international development, programme management, or global partnerships
· Must have a passion for and commitment to peace and social justice globally (our current focus country is Nigeria)
. Must have or be developing strong leadership skills
· Skilled negotiator with exceptional networking abilities
· Competent in strategic planning and impact measurement
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong understanding of cultural sensitivity and cross-border collaboration
· Experience of building excellent relationships with external funding bodies
· Interpersonal skills; to work and build relationships with a wide range of people
· Good organization skills, to track priorities, work to deadlines and manage projects
· Commitment to learning and improvement
· Good judgement and initiative, for making decisions autonomously or advising others on the most effective course of action.
