President Bola Tinubu has called for an urgent high-level meeting with Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, following a deadly attack in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced the summons during a Tuesday press briefing, emphasizing the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring order in the North-Central region.
Federal Response and Security Measures
The Minister detailed the immediate steps taken by the Nigerian Armed Forces to contain the violence and prevent further bloodshed:
• Rapid Mobilization: Troops under Operation Enduring Peace were deployed to the scene immediately following distress calls.
• Search Operations: Security agencies have cordoned off the affected areas and launched intelligence-led missions to track the perpetrators.
• Proactive Surveillance: The government has reinforced troop presence and joint military-police patrols in high-risk zones across the state.
"What occurred does not represent a breakdown of national security, but rather a criminal act within a known conflict-prone area—one that is being actively and decisively addressed," Idris stated.
