Shaping the Future: PSJ UK’s Contribution to the UK Government’s Africa Policy Consultation

As part of the UK government’s ongoing consultation on its future relationship with Nigeria and Africa, PSJ UK has been actively engaging in discussions to ensure that faith-based and diaspora perspectives are included in shaping this policy direction.

During a series of consultation meetings, we provided insights on security and governance, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable development, highlighting the challenges and opportunities that must be addressed to foster meaningful partnerships. We particularly emphasised the urgent need for stronger action on insecurity in Nigeria, as well as the role of diaspora communities in driving positive change through investment, advocacy, and humanitarian support.

The UK’s new approach seeks to reset relationships with African nations based on mutual respect and shared interests, moving beyond traditional aid-based models towards sustainable partnerships. We stressed the importance of policies that address the displacement crisis, economic marginalisation, and the need for long-term peacebuilding efforts.

Through these discussions, we are ensuring that the voices of affected communities are heard at the highest levels of decision-making. We will continue to advocate for policies that promote peace, stability, and equitable growth in Nigeria and across Africa.
