Empowering Communities: PSJ UK’s Sustainable Farming Initiative

We recognise that humanitarian aid alone is not enough to build resilient communities. Long-term, self-sustaining solutions are essential to breaking the cycle of displacement and dependency. That’s why we are developing a Sustainable Farming Initiative—a programme designed to provide displaced farmers with the resources, security, and support they need to rebuild their livelihoods.

Across Nigeria, countless farmers have been forced to abandon their land due to violence and insecurity, leaving them stranded in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps with little opportunity to provide for their families. Our initiative seeks to restore dignity and economic independence by creating a structured pathway for these individuals to return to productive, honourable work in safe and secure farming environments.

This project will focus on:

  • Land Access and Security: Establishing secure farmlands where displaced farmers can work without fear.

  • Training and Resources: Equipping farmers with the necessary tools, modern techniques, and support to improve productivity.

  • Market Integration: Ensuring that their produce reaches buyers, creating a sustainable economic model.

  • Community Resilience: Encouraging cooperative farming models that foster collaboration, self-sufficiency, and long-term stability.

By investing in sustainable farming, we are not just providing food security—we are restoring hope, rebuilding lives, and fostering economic resilience.

As this initiative takes shape, we invite our supporters and partners to join us in making it a reality. Together, we can transform abandoned farmland into thriving agricultural hubs, creating a future where displaced families can rebuild with confidence and dignity.
