At PSJ UK, we are committed to supporting families whose lives have been upended by acts of injustice and violence. We are limited by funds in what we can do and who we can support but we do our limited best as resources permit.
In the wake of a devastating attack that shattered they lives and stability of one such family, we stepped in to provide sustained, practical assistance following the religiously motivated mob-murder of a young student —not just in the immediate aftermath, but as part of a long-term commitment to help the family rebuild their lives.
Immediate Relief & Basic Needs
In the immediate aftermath, we provided the family with some financial support and essential food parcels, toiletries, and basic necessities to ease their burden and ensure they had the sustenance they needed during this difficult period.
Trauma Counselling & Psychosocial Support
Through our interactions, it became clear that the family continues to suffer from deep emotional and psychological distress. In response, we committed to facilitating trauma counselling to help them process their grief and build emotional resilience.
Skills & Employment Support
Recognising the economic hardship they now face, we have been working on securing opportunities that will help the family become self-sufficient:
📌 Vocational & Employment Training – One of the victim's brothers, who had previously trained in construction, was connected by PSJUK with an internship at a local construction company. To support him in this role, we have provided stipends to cover his transportation and work-related expenses and renumeration.
📌 Job Assistance for the Family’s Breadwinner – We are actively working to secure employment for the father, collaborating with local partners to identify job opportunities that will restore financial stability for the family.
📌 Transport & Livelihood Support – Another brother, who has experience in the transport industry, has been working towards establishing himself in inter-state travel. To support this effort, we are in the process of purchasing a vehicle that will enable him to operate a sustainable transport business—providing both a stable income and a long-term livelihood solution for the family.
Pursuing Legal Justice
Beyond humanitarian support, we firmly believe that justice must be served. We are actively seeking legal redress for this family, working with partners to pursue justice through the appropriate legal channels. Holding perpetrators accountable is not just about this one case—it is about setting a precedent to deter future injustices and ensuring that families do not have to suffer in silence.

While progress has been made, our work is not done. This family’s resilience, despite immense hardship, continues to inspire us. We remain committed to helping them achieve stability and independence, ensuring that they do not just survive but thrive.
