Bridging Divides: Our Community Dialogue & Reconciliation Project

In parts of Nigeria today, neighbours no longer speak. Fear and mistrust have replaced the bonds that once held communities together. Ethnic and religious tensions — often worsened by violence, politics, or displacement — are tearing at the social fabric of villages and towns.

At PSJ UK, we believe peace must be built from the ground up. That’s why we’re launching the Community Dialogue & Reconciliation Project — a targeted initiative that brings people together to talk, listen, and begin to rebuild broken trust.

What We're Doing

This project creates safe spaces for open, facilitated dialogue in communities affected by long-standing tension and conflict. With the help of trained mediators, faith leaders, and community elders, we aim to bring opposing sides together — not just to talk, but to truly understand one another.

Our first step? Launch four pilot sessions in key areas where the need is urgent and the healing potential is real.

Why It Matters

  • Peace isn’t automatic — it takes work. These dialogues help communities confront painful truths, clarify misunderstandings, and discover common ground.

  • Words can prevent violence. We’ve seen how open, respectful conversations can defuse tension before it erupts into violence.

  • It aligns with PSJ UK’s mission of advancing justice and peace through community-led, faith-driven initiatives.

  • It attracts global attention. International peacebuilding organisations increasingly look for grassroots, locally-owned solutions like this to fund and support.

How We'll Do It

Each session will include:

  • Diverse participants: young people, women, religious leaders, elders, victims and ex-combatants

  • Skilled facilitators trained in trauma-informed conflict resolution

  • Neutral venues with accessible, secure meeting arrangements

  • Follow-up mechanisms to help communities maintain the dialogue and act on shared resolutions

  • Media teams to document stories and share lessons

Help Us Make It Happen

We’re looking for donors, partners, and sponsors who understand the value of dialogue in rebuilding societies.

  • A gift of £100 could cover transport for community delegates

  • £250 could sponsor a trained facilitator for one session

  • £1,500 could underwrite a full dialogue session from start to finish

  • £5,000+ could help us scale the model across new regions

If you believe in building peace — not just in theory, but in practice — we invite you to join us.

Because peace isn’t just a hope — it’s a process.
