While many families around the world gather to celebrate Christmas with warmth, food, and laughter, thousands of displaced people across Nigeria face the season with uncertainty, hunger, and grief.
That’s why, every December, PSJ UK runs the Christmas Love Outreach — a heartfelt initiative to extend compassion, relief, and hope to those most affected by violence, displacement, and loss.
What It's About
Christmas Love is more than a seasonal charity effort — it’s a symbol of solidarity. A way to remind communities under siege that they are not forgotten. That someone cares. That in the darkest moments, light can still break through.
This outreach provides:
-
Essential food packages to help families survive the holidays with dignity
-
Medical supplies for health posts and IDP camps facing critical shortages
-
Clothing and hygiene kits for children, mothers, and the elderly
-
Toys and treats to give displaced children a moment of joy
-
Prayer and counselling support offered by local church and community leaders
What We Achieved Last Year
In December 2024, your support helped us reach vulnerable families in:
-
Benue State
-
Plateau State
-
Kaduna State
-
And other communities affected by conflict
Hundreds of families received practical help. But more importantly, they received a message: you are seen, you are loved, and you are not alone.
In the words of one local coordinator:
“This was the first time in many years some of these children had anything to smile about during Christmas. The food was a relief, but the human presence meant even more.”
Why It Matters Now
With displacement camps swelling and insecurity worsening in many rural areas, the need is greater than ever. Many families continue to live in makeshift shelters, unable to access food, healthcare, or basic support.
This Christmas, we want to expand our reach and do even more — but we need your help.
How You Can Be Part of It
Whether you're an individual, a church, a business, or an organisation, you can make a real difference:
-
£30 can feed a family for a week
-
£100 can provide a dignity kit with food, clothing, and hygiene items
-
£250 can support medical needs or mobility aids for a vulnerable camp
-
£1,000+ can sponsor an entire location outreach with logistics and team costs
We’re also looking for:
-
Partners to match donations
-
Volunteers to help coordinate distribution
-
Churches to include us in their Christmas missions
-
Businesses to contribute part of their end-of-year giving
Let’s Bring Love Where It’s Needed Most
Christmas should be a time of peace, not pain. With your help, we can share love in places that need it most — where war has stolen joy, and where simple kindness can begin to heal deep wounds.
Join us in making this Christmas a season of hope, comfort, and love for displaced families in Nigeria.
Give. Partner. Share. Pray.
Together, let’s light up Christmas — one family at a time.
