PSJ UK Youth Ambassadors for Peace: Building the Next Generation of Changemakers

At PSJ UK, we believe that lasting change in governance, justice, and peace cannot be achieved without the involvement of young people. Across the UK and Nigeria, young activists are stepping up to demand accountability, fairness, and human rights. Yet, many lack the training, mentorship, and opportunities needed to channel their passion into real impact.

This is why we are launching the PSJ UK Youth Ambassadors for Peace Programme — a 6-month training and mentorship journey that will equip young leaders with the skills and tools to champion governance, human rights, and social justice in their communities.

What is the Youth Ambassadors for Peace Programme?

The programme will take 30 young participants on a six-month journey of growth, learning, and action. Through masterclasses, one-to-one mentorship, and hands-on project opportunities, these young ambassadors will be trained to:

  • Understand the principles of good governance and accountability.

  • Document and advocate for human rights.

  • Mobilise communities around justice and social cohesion.

  • Lead projects that bring real change to the ground.

By the end of the programme, each participant will design and implement a community-based initiative that reflects the values of peace, justice, and fairness — multiplying the impact far beyond the training room.

Why Are We Doing This?

Nigeria is facing one of the most severe humanitarian and security crises in the world today. Communities in the Middle Belt and Northeast face violence, displacement, and persecution. At the same time, young people in the UK, particularly from diaspora backgrounds, are looking for ways to engage meaningfully with issues of governance, advocacy, and justice.

The Youth Ambassadors for Peace Programme bridges these worlds. It creates a pipeline of young leaders, both in the UK and Nigeria, who will carry PSJ UK’s mission forward: standing up for justice, amplifying the voices of the vulnerable, and promoting peace across borders.

How Will It Work?

  • 30 Participants: We will begin with a carefully selected cohort of 30 young people.

  • Masterclasses: Weekly sessions led by experts in governance, advocacy, media, and human rights.

  • Mentorship: Students from SOAS and the University of Westminster will serve as youth mentors and programme coordinators, offering guidance and peer-to-peer support.

  • Funding for Projects: Each participant will have the opportunity to pitch for small seed grants to bring their peace and justice projects to life.

This is not just a training course — it is a launchpad for a generation of young leaders who will stand at the forefront of advocacy and change.

What Will It Cost?

To make this vision a reality, we need your support. The estimated budget for the first 6-month cycle is £15,000.

This will cover:

  • Training materials and masterclass facilitation

  • Mentorship and coordination support

  • Small seed grants for youth-led projects

  • Administrative and programme running costs

Every pound you give goes directly into empowering young leaders who will multiply this impact in their communities.

How You Can Help

We are inviting friends, partners, and supporters of PSJ UK to stand with us in this initiative. By donating, you are not just funding a programme — you are investing in the future of peace and justice.

Your support can ensure that passionate young activists are trained, mentored, and equipped to change the narrative in their communities.

Together, we can raise a new generation of Youth Ambassadors for Peace.
