How do we avoid being characterised as an NGO enabling American interests, considering global geopolitical competition and rare-earth minerals? If you had the ear of the President of Nigeria today, what would you advise him to say in a meeting with Donald Trump? Does this mean the U.S. will take action against Nigeria? Why are there conflicting narratives about Trump’s intention to intervene to stop the killing of Christians? Is it really about oil or other interests? How can the US President intervene in a way that protects Christians without provoking Muslims or traditional worshippers?  It signals the U.S. may engage more diplomatically or condition certain aid on improvements in human rights. It could also lead to increased support for civil society and humanitarian groups working to protect vulnerable Nigerians.
